Joyce Carol Oats on Writing Characters
I just found this video on YouTube where Joyce Carol Oats discusses writing characters. The full program is actually located on this website.
I like how she says she is intrigued by people’s personalities and how the first six weeks of writing a novel is hell. I relate to that, but the problem is that what is six weeks to her, are years to me… simply because I don’t write stories full time.
I love how she says you shouldn’t give up… I’ll try to stay with it as she suggests, because right now… I don’t like what I’ve written.
